As part of O2’s New Store Programme, we were tasked with launching a brand-new flagship store in Liverpool Church Street.
We wanted the new O2 flagship to feel like it always belonged there, by listening to customers’ needs and seeing them for who they truly are. This opening needed to show the people of Liverpool that O2 gets them.
What We Did:
It’s a city drenched in history; music, language, and culture. Liverpudlians are proud to call it home and we’re proud to be here. So, we created a fully integrated campaign with Liverpool at its heart. Every touchpoint, from featured activity online and social channels, to radio spots and action on the streets, celebrated what makes Liverpool so great.
In a homage to the great entertainers in Liverpool’s past and present street, we commissioned two local illustrators to create a one-off experience right outside the new O2 shop. They created an incredible illustrated mural inspired by everything Liverpool, showcasing everything from the cathedral to The Beatles.
We created T-shirts and tote bags, inspired by our mural, that were up for grabs in a prize draw alongside a gift voucher for the Liverpool O2 Academy. And, after the launch, we even cut up our mural into poster-size pieces and gave them away to lucky entrants too!
From live murals to live music
Great music is in Merseyside’s blood. So, we hired local DJs to perform sets live in store! They set up their shop at the front of ours and played their heart out over the launch weekend. Liverpudlians live and breathe music, so while ours was playing, they were staying.
Even more music
When a city loves music this much, radio is the perfect way to tap into the cultural conversation. So, we enlisted the help of local station, Radio City to host our O2K Minute. If listeners could answer 10 questions correctly in 60 seconds, they would bag two thousand pounds!
