TCC win in Innovation at The Popai Awards 2019

TCC are very proud to be winners in the Innovation category of The Popai Awards, for our ‘Individual As You Are’ campaign launching O2 Custom Plans alongside the iPhone XS.


The campaign celebrated the individuality of O2 customers by devising hubs of personalisation which showed them their unique qualities and elevated in-store experiences.

In a selection of O2 flagship and platinum stores, we executed the complete 3D scanning to printing process to create unique mini-figures as keepsakes for customers, which whilst creating a memorable moment also achieved many retail firsts in its design and adoption in a shop environment. Another ‘always-on’ creation was a bespoke-built, human-sized, 1000-pin art wall.

The Popai Awards recognise outstanding creativity, innovation and excellence throughout the shopper experience which is why the nomination and subsequent win matters to TCC.

Held at The Royal Lancaster, London on Tuesday 8th October 2019, the ceremony was a lavish affair, with all nominees invited in the hope of winning Gold, Silver or Bronze honours.

With 28 categories in total, all elements of the shopper experience were explored. From the best in industry achievements, such as Display of the Year, to specific retail expertise, in Pharmacy or Grocery stores, to forward-thinking designs being awarded for Sustainability.

Innovation was one of the most closely contested categories in which TCC were up against some of the biggest brands, handled by the biggest agencies in Retail Marketing, as well as our client O2’s direct competitors. We set out to achieve Brand Performance in all we do at TCC – so to see O2 celebrated like this makes all the long hours invested in this campaign worthwhile.

The judging panel was made up of esteemed retail and brand professionals, with names such as Charlene Kharbanda, Brand Manager at Vodafone, to Dan Porter, In-Store Campaign & Activation Marketing Manager at Tesco.

The panel recognised our multi-faceted approach to innovation and our success in elevating O2’s brand perception, their comments read: “This display has innovation in spades. It takes customers’ interaction to another level and then again. It not only builds on interaction, it strengthens customers’ affiliation to the brand and creates a talking point. It is everything it set out to be by bringing more than one innovation to store.”


Overall, it was a great accolade for TCC to be awarded in the Innovation category and we look forward to further pushing the retail boundaries in anticipation of The Popai Awards 2020.
